En route to my patrol area through the north sea Dec 39. Went to periscope depth for my regular night time hydrophone check and I picked up a weird noise directly ahead. Sounded kinda squeaky. I turned up the speakers full blast and my girlfriend identified it as a dolphin. I know dolphins have been modelled into the game but I thought it was only as graphics. Do they make noises?
Now I watched a lot of Flipper as a child and he didnt sound like this. Maybe it could be a sick dolphin? Or do I need a new soundcard?

they DO make noises, what you found is a pod of biologics :rotfl:
i have not run into them mid campaign outside of harbors yet. search for them and you will likely see them too. nice find edit: its not your soundcard... thats more or less what they would sound like on a hydrophone... especially one from the 30s and 40s

You should do the humane thing... the dolphin is clearly sick, don't let it suffer. How you choose to end the animals suffering is your choice, might I recommend the flak gun?

Dont know about this dolphin crap. Coming back from the patrol now and passing through AN49 the game started lagging. Went to PD in case there was a handy merchie nearby to bump up my tally and what do I hear? Bloody dolphins again.
Now I've been playing SH3 with GWX for about a year now and never seen or heard a dolphin before. And now in one night I've come across them twice? I have them on hydrophone right now and I'm gonna track them till daybreak and if I dont see dolphins I'll know the soundcard is knackered

Unfortunately it was 11 at night and pitch black. I tried tracking them underwater by hydrophone but they were always ahead of me even at flank speed. I surfaced and but on a burst of speed but when I submerged again the noise was gone.Thats what made me wonder if it was a sound card problem

I just saw a documentry about dolphins.... they have a sinister side, they bully sharks and other large fish.... - there were like 3 of them harrasing a nurse shark (that was just minding its own business) they were knocking it about just for fun! little sqeaking bastards
Flak guns it is then.... ![]() |
