Default Question about IX boats

for all you IXoholics, whats the best time compression to use to get to your area of operations. i like to feel like ive been out at sea for a long time, but i dont want it to take all day.

so im asking what is the best time compression to keep that balance?

When I reach my patrol grid I use x128 time compresison, because at that rate it gives oyu more than enough time to react when a contact is reported. But to travel loooong distances I usualy pull it up to 512, but not too often and not for extended periods of time either.
Just in case, I am a IXD2coholic!!!!

X128 is a great speed to use, not too fast not too slow, just right. the game wont "pass" thing by. But when ever im going across the ocean i go at the fastest speed.

If I'm near to land (to about 1000km) I only go 128. Outside that I go 2042 or 1024.

You will always be safe at 1024
You could sail right past the whole of the Royal Navy and not know it

Tis a question of balance really
High TC will get you across the Atlantic quick but there are plenty of ships\convoys mid atlantic travelling from the US to UK
At high TC you will miss those
But then no one wants to spend a week RL traversing the " pond "

Once I was looking at this little dot crossing the Atlanic at high tc......expecting nothing to happen, I decided to go to the bathroom to have some time to myself...
All of a sudden there was a screeching sound and all hell had broken loose....I sprang up and found that my U-boat had collided by a hospital ship in mid-ocean, reducing my hull integrity to almost nothing....

This ship was very real, even when in high tc.

Anyway to stay ontopic: usually i fire tc up to 2048 a.s.a.p......the game starts to stutter a bit when you are close to something....a contact, a weather change.....then you know action is close....I know it's a bit of a cheat, but my time is very limited, and I DO want to play SHIII and experience some action during the few hours I get to play it.

When I retire in about 30 years, I will take all the time in the world for this game.

Nothing more than 128 TC.
Sit back and read a book, spam subsim, watch history channel or play my PS3.

2048. I have only couple hours of GWX time per week. I'm not gonna waste it on tc 128.

When crossing the ocean, I do it at TC 512.

I really hate the bloody screen that tells you a ship's been sighted because it doesn't stop the action nor does it give you aural warning.

On SH II, I could run the game while doing something else because look outs always shouted schiff or flugzeug gesichted, so I ran the game at low TC almost 24 hours a day.

Can't do that with SHIII/GWX.

I've often wondered that Mr BBW,since t/c isn't a cheat,it just enables you to fit in some reasonable game time into whatever time you have to play,I've always thought it a bit unfair that you should miss things like ships and stuff at high t/c levels, not everybody has that much time on there hands or is this some technical thing when the game is flashing along at high t/c:hmm: just wondered like.

64x to 128x on patrol grid or when I'm snooping along a convoy route. 512x to cross "empty" stretches of ocean to get to my destination. 512x max underwater with three separate (morning, noon, evening before I surface) 1x sonar checks during the day.

I only use 2048x if I'm just goofing around and not really "simming".
