Sneaking into Manila port

I am having a ton of trouble getting to the objective star to photo recon a carrier group, I keep getting blown to bits despite not visually seeing any ships attacking me or the crew telling me im under attack, I have tried silent running, I have tried going around all the sonar contacts but I keep getting destroyed

Anyone have a good strategy for sneaking into ports with what seems to be heavy Japanese activity?
