Default Fishing Economy?

So i grew up in the New England area and fishing and maritime trading is a major part of the NE area.
So would it be possible to attack the fishing vessels on the eastern seaboard? I mean if Germany did that in real life then they would have caused a major upset in the economy. Codmander would u like to comment?

It wouldn't have had very far reaching effects in terms of stopping the U.S.'s ability to wage war. It would have hurt the local regional economy, but you would much rather send your warships after the cargo ships carrying the steel for guns, ammunition, wheat, lumber, textiles, machine parts and military equipment.

Fishing just aint that big of a contributor to domestic GDP.

It's fun to shoot them with your flak guns though. I do it every chance i get. Ive even been known to ram schooners

I've been known to torpedo them, its fun watching them do a barrel roll in midair before crashing into the water, despite the fact the torpedoes probably cost more then the boat they sunk...

You saint What are your views on unescorted passenger vessels?

For a sub to attack a sailing ship was considered bad luck.
