No renown or tonnage question

Hello submariners!

I'm a lurker thats been playing SH3 for a couple weeks now. I'm running 1.4b and GWX 1.02

Last night I returned my VIIB to my home port (new career, 1st patrol) after a successful patrol of my assigned grid. I sank 1 tanker and 5 merchant ships for a total of just over 38k tons. All ships were British, and left the red icon when they were sunk.

I thought I would be justly rewarded, with heaps of medals for my crew and renown for myself. But I got nothing

Zero renown, zero tonnage in the patrol log, not a single medal for my crew.

Can anyone offer insight? 2 of the merchant ships were cargo/passenger. Did I kill a load of civilians and am being punished? They looked like such nice easy targets

what month and year did you start in??? if it was the earliest possible date then you need to wait for a radio message saying that we are now at war with Britain or summat like that. i could be wrong though

I started at the earliest possible date. I sunk my first merchant up by Scapa, and I *think* it was after the message about commencment of hostilities, but I'm not sure. In any case I had Ansons trying to drop bombs on me at various times before the majority of those kills, so I figure the war had started by then

well its the only explanation i can think of tbh. since its your first patrol try starting again you may as well as you didnt get any renown or medals and check for that message again.
