Ggrrr! wheres me fish?

hello folks, here I am again!

I have been snooping around Lowestoft in my little IIA, learning the ropes and all that. Tried firing torpedoes at night when I was miles from the target - miserable failure that was, wasted the first three,so I decided I would wait until dawn and then get in a bit closer.

I rested the crew as much as I could, but to get the torps loaded asap, I have put a full complement in there, plus an officer. The state of play now is that I have a sitting duck all lined up, chugging peacefully away, and I am all ready to go - but the torpedoes are still only 'in the queue'. What are they DOING in there I ask myself? Here I am on me tippy-toes waiting for the off, and THEY are not ready!! Hmph.

Torpedo loading time was one realism I did not go for, so why are my crew not getting on with the job even after several hours have gone by?

"Rig for silent running" turned ON. Or Bernard messing up with your torps.

Are you sure you had the torp compartment manned, so the green indicator line on top of it was past half way? And silent running was off?

Go to the Weapons Officer and see if you have disabled the automatic loading of torpedoes.

hyperion, the tick for automatic loading was there

Cap'n Kozloff, the compartment was fully manned, including an officer - but can't be sure the bar was halfway - maybe a third. So they all needed a bit more rest maybe?

Silent running not on - unless I pressed Z without realising. I shall go back in and check

Not sure if it's a bug, but every now and then to get fish to load I have to tell my CE to secure from silent running, even though there is no indication that it's rigged. Maybe he's slowly losing his mind with all the long voyages, moldy sausages, and diesel fumes.

Here's a little tip, She-Wolf (though you may already know this). When loading torpedos, if you go to the weapons screen (press I), and put your mouse cursor over on of the "reloads", if your crew is reloading you'll know straight away because the time it takes to complete the job should pop up...it'll show time left in minutes.

thanks Einbaum - I did know about that, but appreciate your guidance anyway. When I hover the mouse it tells me the torps are 'in the queue'. I shall go back in later and check I did not have silent running accidentally enabled, though I am pretty sure I did not as no-one is whispering!

I had the same problem in a II canoe. Had to rest the chaps for a bunch of hours before they were capable to do the work. Grrrr
