Only once I saw the convoy icon as a circle instead of square. Does it mean it was reported by an u-boot directly, not by BdU? There was also no any message in my radio room about the convoy (so no exact speed, only 'medium') but when I checked it it was a quite regular allied convoy headed west (to Northern America). Just curious.

IIRC it's because there is a sub stalking/shadowing it

Unfortunately haven't spotted any U-Boot, but _after_ releasing all the torpedoes and watching the booms (no escorts around) I noticed a destroyer closing from behind the convoy freaking fast... He must had been chasing the mentioned U-Boot and then alarmed by the merchants hurried to find me. That's great!

It's good to attack convoys like these. The AI U-Boats usually go for the escorts (or the other way around) so you have an almost free hand with the merchants.

My first encounter with a roundy warmed me bones. The leading Black Swan was on fire not bothering anyone. ![]() My last encounter with a roundy (2nd attack) was a disappointment. Some other U-boat had sunk the big ships I wanted to zonk. ![]()

The lead unit in the convoy is an AI sub
The radio reports come from the lead unit so it shows as a round icon When the subs are no longer part of the convoy it reverts back to a merchant as lead and so you get a square icon ![]() |

This explains everything as I came across two convoys and I noticed both of them had damaged ships.

Yeah could be anywhere
The mission ed needs one unit to be the lead unit in name only - could be in the middle\rear or flank If its a merc it shows as a convoy If its a warship it shows as a TF So you could stick a T3 in with a TF ,run it at 18 kts and make it the lead unit Boy wouldnt that be a surprise :rotfl: Fast convoy spotted WTF Alarrrrrrrrrrrrm |
