Default GWX and Convoy scripting

Hi there.

Just came across something peculiar yesterday. It was March 1940 and I was shadowing a convoy in calm waters southbound close to the English East coast. And suddenly right around nightfall while I was closing up to the convoy from its port side in order to attack (they were really getting on my nerves. Each time I came even remotely close I had an escort on my tail which normally saw me before my crew spotted it) I dived to get a bearing on the hydrophones, and the convoy was just gone. I had shadowed the convoy the whole day and ran parallel to it checking ever hour on the bearing, and kept my speed low as not to overtake it.

When night came we were closing on the port of Hull so I figured the convoy must've dispersed in order to enter the harbor, but every single contact I could make out on the hydrophone was a war ship. And there were quite a few of them.

So my question: how are the convoys scripted? Did it pass me by somehow and I didn't detect it? Does it simply cease to exist when it reaches its destination? Do the ships disperse and I just couldn't find them?

Thanks a lot for your help
