Default Important feature missing

We really need a 'abandon ship!' option when this happens
I had to surface to get all the water out, when I did there were 3 doing circles around the boat

Where's the surrender option?!

While the new recruits panic, the WO remains calm.

Yes

could be nice see the crew jumping out the boat to the water in lifejackets.

unfortunately this is forbiden in the sh3 bdu. the crew have to close the hatch and go deep to avoid that the enigma machine and codes could fall in british hands.

lol... I'd say most people aren't even aware that the captain of U-505 committed suicide while being under depth charge attack... leaving his crew on their own. Reading about him he was a real JERK to his crew too... a real sicko.

They lived through the attack and buried him at sea.

There is a surrender option. If you hit escape when you're surrounded like that, you can select to surrender. No interesting animations, though - just like when you get sunk. I belive that you can use this surrender option any time you're under attack - including when you're under attack by aircraft. Not exactly sure how aircraft would capture you, though. I guess Catalinas could tow you back... :rotfl:

What I really wish is that there would be an option to attempt to scuttle the boat once you've decided to surrender. Of course, given my crew's abilities, they'd probably bungle it and forget to leave the sea strainers open or leave the enigma behind.

Really?
I wonder if the modders could make it so you escape the prison camp a few years later and begin your quest for revenge

Yup. I just did some testing, if you've been detected by the enemy and you're on the surface you can click on 'exit patrol' to get the surrender option.

As you can see, surrendering doesn't amount to much, other than the satisfaction of knowing you didn't get your crew killed. You'll just have to imagine the subsequent interrogations and escape attempts.

A real U-Boat captain never surrenders.

How did Kretschmer survive then? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the highest-scoring U-boat commander of WW2 was a 'real U-boat commander'.

Amazing. I've been playing for 6 months and I never noticed this option.

It was meant to be a joke. I didn't make the comment with any historical accuracy in mind.

That's for single missions.
