Any way to play campaign in multiplayer?

I hooked up on the idea of subbing just a couple of days ago, found myself a world of SH3 and then even managed to invite a friend of mine, though I don't know how the multiplayer works.

Tried the buttons in the game's main menu, also looked through plenty of threads on subsim, but this simple question still is unanswered. I only found some traces of actual campaigns, anything else leads to simple MP missions and a simple mission generator.

Would've been cool to have the whole map for yourself and a teammate to try to find convoys and have all this variety that normal career offers.

Also, are there ways to precisely configure the difficulty settings? I like not having the insta-solution setting, but being able to sometimes ask the WO if my guesses were right.
