Operation Drumbeat and Wolves of Steel

I just gotta know. Am carrying out Operation Drumbeat off the coast of the Americas and so went and bought the book of the same name and am really enjoying it. Then in the game the radio operator made a reference to just five Uboats causing havoc. I thought nothing of it.

Then I reached the part in the book where it mentions that Donitz only have five boats to send so I gotta know.

Was the reference to the five boats in the original game or was it inserted by the Wolves of Steel modders?

After this book I am going to read Iron Coffins.
