Default How to calculate speed and range in Wolves of Steel?

OK I'm watching some YouTube videos on using the attack wheel and such when plotting attacks using 100% realism as I am now.

I'm on Wolves of Steel 1.06 04h.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to calculate speed and distance.

For speed, back in the SH3 days I would use the fixed wire method, letting the target track across the vertical reticle of the scope, and then, using the ship length, find it's speed using this formula:

(Ship Length In Meters) * 1.94 / (Time in Seconds)

The problem is the ship recognition sheets available in this version of WoS are "antique looking" to be real, and I can rarely find what I see through the scope in the recognition guide. There used to be a flip-through book that showed all the different ships and viewed at different angles, but I can't find that now. Is that gone in WoS?

Another way to do it, per the video, is to plot the position of the ship, wait some amount of time, then plot it again, and then transpose the second measurement the amount of distance your sub moved.

To do this in the YouTube video the guy had access to charts that showed meters/kilometers movement for different speeds and times, but I do not see this chart available in WoS. Is it gone?

The final thing is the stadiometer. In the YouTube video, the guy uses the flip-through recognition manual to find the target ship, then uses the "send mast height to TDC" button to send the mast height to the TDC.

With the flip-through book gone (if it is), how do you send mast height to the TDC?

I now have to learn about the RAOBF thingy - maybe it helps solve some of these issues.
