Default Graphic issue: "Banding". Is Seeadler still around?

Hi,

many users (including myself) have problems in SH3&4 with a graphics issue: below water and in the night sky you can clearly see stripes/bands of different colors, see, e.g.,

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=226590

Given Seeadler's great expertise I'm wondering whether he could shed light on this issue and provide some help. I think any information would be useful (even if it was just that there is no solution so people don't have to search anymore). Thus, does anyone know whether Seeadler is still around or can contact him and ask for help?

Regards, LGN1

hi LGN1,

what is this issue about ? can you post a pic ?

if you mean the gradation of underwater colors then is not an issue...is the way sh3 is handling the colors. in MEP's (from v3 and later) i eliminate this gradation at underwater colors so,in case that this is the ''banding'' you are taking about, have a look at MEP's underwater colors

Hi,

thanks for the replies! The most annoying issue is the 'banding' above the horizon on clear nights. See here (especially the last two screenshots):

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ostcount=11785

The effect can be reduced by adjusting the brightness of your screen, however, in this case I hardly see anything at nighttime.

Best, LGN1

i see what you mean now. try adjusting a little bit more the fog's color in order to make it match as possible with the sky's color during night
