Icon14 Getting back into SHIII

Two questions as it downloads from Steam.

What issues are there running it in Windows 10.

I normally play Grey Wolves, what are the differences between Grey Wolves and Living Silent Hunter (LSH)

None. I have run it just fine on 8.1 and 10.

Too many to describe in one post. Best you read the Instruction Manuals that come with both. And give NYGM a try. And WAC. Multi-SH3 lets you run any or all of them with minimum hassle.

Thanks

I will have to remember my Direct 2 Drive account to get a non-steam version of SHIII. I might use that to set up a Multi-SH3 setup.

After cleaning up my old install out and reinstalling, I have grey wolves working, now i just need to get SH3 Commander working and I will be off sinking shipping.

edit:

I have a weird error - I can launch the game and play it normally with GWX installed. However, if I try to launch it with SH3 Commander, just as one would expect the "Not so long ago" screen, it has a CTD.

Hi Z
Try running the applications in Administrator mode.
Your OS can also give you ctd's when loading different, or new combinations.
For example if you have Windows 10 then try changing your SH3.exe to run in SH7 compatibility mode.
Windows 7 try XP.

You need some additional files for SH3 Commander to work with GWX.

Working download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/0a...r_CFGFiles.exe

I have installed those.

Uninstalled everything, and reinstalled
still get a CTD when I am loading for patrol.

And I finally figured out something that works. Thanks for the help. Now stalking a convoy waiting for the war to start.

You figured out something that works?

And why don't you tell us what you figured out?

Just in case someone shows up in need for help, you know...

Hi, I dont mean to contradic you, but i have read this a few times, still i played over 20 hours of LSH3 with my steam bought copy of SH3.
So Why do people say its not compatible?

The only issue i had with LSH3 + steam was the installation.
LSH3 complained about an invalid path for SH3, so i renamed my sh3 folder from "Silent Hunter 3" to "SilentHunter3" (removed the spaces), installed LSH3, then renamed the folder back to "Silent Hunter 3", and everything worked fine.
