Support [solved] Real Navigation problem

Hi everyone,

I am new here and this is my first post so apologies if this goes in the wrong section. I am taking a break from my normal Flight Simulator perversions and decided to get SH5. I also went for the Wolves of Steel mod since I am a realism freak. I also have some real-world ocean navigation skills so I opted in for Real Navigation. Problem is I can't get it to work properly...

When I try to use the nautical slide rule to plot a course etc, the initial marker ends up wrong. I attached a screenshot to illustrate what happens. I wonder what I am doing wrong here? This is how I do it:

1. Contact navigation officer to have him plot my current location.
2. I center the ruler over my U-boat and left-click to get an entry point for my new course.

But as you can see from the screenshot, the marker cross doesn't end up nowhere close to where I am at. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, but I thought this was the SH5 forum? And searching for a solution doesn't come up with anything useful (which I of course did before posting) but perhaps someone can point me in the right direction here? So far I have searched for people having similar issues using search terms like "nautical ruler problem", "protractor problem", "marker not centered", etc, etc...

Cheers!

the real navigation has a 10 -15% error when calculate the dead recognition ....and around 10% error for celestial fix u can fix this by editing in TDW's option file viewer in the Realnavigation Tab..... u can change the calculation error to 0%

Is that really the problem here? I mean I could be totally lost but when I place the ruler over my boat on the chart and plot a course line it should start from where I think I am, shouldn't it?

When I look at tutorials the red marker ends up where the center cross of the ruler is. When I place it, it ends up several NM's from where the rulers center is.

Oh, sorry, I thought it was enough to mention that I used Wolves of Steel...

The Wolves of Steel 1.05
The Wolves of Steel 1.05 - Update 05
The Wolves of Steel 1.05 - Real Navigation
The Wolves of Steel 1.05 - Resolution patch
The Wolves of Steel 1.05 - Wind and smoke

Everything is activated with JSGME (which I am very familiar with) and I used the GenericPatcher as described in the installation manual. No other mods running or even placed in the MODS folder.

If I disable Real Navigation the ruler and protractor work as intended.

You should re-check install instructions and reinstall the mod... If the mod was installed correctly you wouldn't have such issues, that's for sure...

Yes, you're absolutely right. I have the same MOD list installed except the resolution patch and everything works fine. I had that problem in the past and I think it may have something to do with the ruler compass. I noticed yours is different, I'm sorry I can't post a pic of mine, I'm not at my game computer.
Did you by chance change it?

Icon14 [solved] Real Navigation problem

I have not changed anything other than installing the Wolves of Steel 1.05 mod (and the stuff that comes with it). I have also tried to reinstall the entire mod on top of a clean SH5 1.2.0 install and I do follow the instructions to the letter. Everything works except the ruler and protractor since they refuse to put down the red cross marker over their centers.

What you say makes sense DieReeperbahn. If the scale of the navigational tools is wrong this would probably be the effect.

EDIT: The resolution patch was the culprit! Removing it made the ruler and protractor work as intended. Thank you Reeperbahn (wasn't the first time Die Reeperbahn relieved a sailor in distress, was it...) and everyone that helped out.
