I'm in a Tambor class, came back after my 8th patrol (feeling pretty good, I finally got two really big warships). I saved the game before docking, just in case. When I ended the patrol it said they reduced my fairwater panels and periscope shearing (I may be spelling that wrong, I need more coffee).
When the little briefing moved finished playing, I went to the Personnel screen to see who needs promoting or rotating ashore, and noticed my gun crew slots are gone. After a moment of panic, I noticed my BIG DECK GUN mounted aft is missing, and in its place I have the 3.5 popgun mounted forward! What happened, and is there any way to avoid this, if I reload my saved game? |

OK, after trying a couple of different things, I just reloaded a much earlier save, and instead of returning to the base on/around that date, I changed my route and speed to arrive a few days earlier, and it didn't automatically upgrade my boat.
I'm assuming that the upgrades are tied to a specific date, and ending the patrol before that date didn't trigger an upgrade. |

That's one heck of an upgrade. Any fool knows that the 3.5" gun doesn't dry laundry half as well as a 5" gun. What WERE they thinking!

Typically whenever I get a major overhaul they outfit me with a 3" - so the player needs to 'spend renown' to purchase the gun they had.... some mods do away with paying for equipment.
I'm surprised they moved your gun though. This can be corrected by hand editing that in port save - it isn't hard, but it can be a pita. Quote:

Even if the game files are perfect, sometimes a glitch happens. I just deal with this issue when/if it happens, and head back out to sea. Happy Hunting!
