Picked up a warship contact so I went to outside camera view..

.I estimate 60+ destroyers and a small convoy south bound past Buru....I am not even going to report it..

.Some arm chair admiral may order me to go for the escorts..

He may order it but you don't have to obey. Escorts are not a particularly good proposition to attack unless it's at night and they're lallygagging around engines off or at slow speed like they sometimes do.

An angry DD is hell itself. Down the throat shots are wasted shots most of the time as they can sashay out of the way with no effort at all and still kill you. In the real war Dealey of the USS Harder loved to shoot DDs until one escaped his down the throat shots and killed him.

Personally, I prefer the Up the Poop Chute attack where you wait for him to pass over and if you survive

you send him some presents from behind. Then if you miss you have time to evade.

Remember, that it was July of 1944 when the orders came to attack DDs preferentially over "Maru types." In all of the rest of 1944 only 2 DDs were claimed. You do the math.

Oh, that contact is a bug I have read about in a few places. You should break contact immediately if you see it or it will eat all the games allocated memory and wreck your patrol.
