Hi all,
What, if any, Time Compression values do you adhere to and why do you do it that way? I travel at 1024 just to get there faster. I then slow down to 128 or 64 to patrol an area. How do you use TC? Thanks ![]()

Here's my standards. They're not rigidly adhered to, more of a guideline.
Far outside enemy waters (Australia, Midway to Pearl): As high as I can, decreasing near port Outside enemy waters: 2048 Near enemy waters: 1024 Transferring between patrol areas: 512 While actually patrolling: 256

There has been some theorizing that you miss contacts if you're running on high time compression, in addition to aircraft appearing so fast that they're already right on you before time compression shuts off. Near port, I turn down time compression because the game gets jumpy while calculating all the traffic.

I run it at 8000 and if it gets jittery then I hit backspace to drop it to 1.

![]() Before, I would use maybe 128x or 256x; no set rule really. |

1024 in friendly waters (hard set in .cfg file)
256 in enemy waters 64 in patrol aria and coasts up to 8 when attacking or evading The 256 and 64 are for the lag by the chronometer/ stopwatch when a convoy or task force enters my zone. It will still happen but I won't be able to hear them via Hydro's yet and make me guess where to go to (which is the best I can do to not use this bug). Any higher and the convoy would have traveled to far in my zone. As soon as I see the chrono. lag, I press Backspace to pause the game for 10sec. to let the graphics 'catch up' so to speak (this became a habit cause I used to play with higher TC in the past and needed to do that) and hope to get lucky. |

Enter key is not being used now. How do I use it to reset time compression to normal?

Backspace to pause, then + to set to 1x is the fastest way

I had the code you would enter into command.cfg but I have lost it.

Same here as that only happens when you're near a Task Force or a Convoy. This isn't SH3 where going at max TC causes you to miss stuff. Though personally I do run SH3 at max TC and never had a problem myself so i'm thinking the missing stuff is more how fast your computer can process it then the game itself.

Time compression? Did O'Kane or Fluckey use "time compression"? Heck No! It's 100% realism or nothing at all. Heck, I don't even shower while I'm out on patrol, 1, 2, sometimes 3 months at a time. The wife and kids don't like it, but hey, we all have to make sacrifices if we are going to win this war. And God help the poor soul who makes a noise, while were rigged for silent running!!!
I use the + and - keys. 512 pretty much the whole time. Last edited by fender2610; 02-26-15 at 02:29 AM. |
