Open Horizons bug???

I have been getting this black / white screen after I save and come back later on. So, little by little, one by one, I would remove an addon and try again. I've finally narrowed it down to Open Horizons. Without OH, I can't get to 1945. Why on earth would the developers only take the war to 1943 is beyond me.

I have tried OH 2; 2.3; 2.4; and Open Horizons 2.5. They all end with the same results. I'll start a new career over, head out to open sea, save it, exit the game, come back, and reload where I left off. And what I get is so dark in contrast it is obviously unplayable. Any suggestions?
