Default RFB folder structure

I've just tried to install the RFB mod and I was curious if the following folder structure looked right.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\JSGME\MODS\RFB_2.0\Data

You're nearly there, but there should be no JSGME folder.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\Data

All mods go in the MODS folder, including RFB. JSGME.exe goes in the game folder.

And to avoid conflicts with the Windows access control system, it is a good idea to install SH4 to a folder on the root, such as:

C:\SH4\Data...etc.

You can just copy your SH4 folder (and the whole game) to C:\ to avoid having to reinstall.

Thanks! I guess I misunderstood / misread 'put JSGME into the game's root folder' to be the JSGME folder when it should have been the exe file.

Thanks also for the tip to not install to the default location. But too late for me now. I should have visited the SubSim forum before I started down this road with SH4. It has been years since SH3 for me, I got a craving for SH4 suddenly, bought it direct DL from UBI, some quick clicking and I was in a career. Finish one career and now its time for some mods.

I've have been creating add-ons for MS Flight Simulator and found it much easier just to turn off UAC so maybe I'll be OK. If not I'll move it outside of Program Files (x86).

I agree with BigWalleye.

The problem is the default installation will put it in the x86 program folder unless you tell it otherwise.

See my tutorial post #4 for step by step instructions on how to install JSGME.

Thanks THEBERBSTER. If I would have come to SubSim, and particularly your post #4, I’d have gotten it right the first time. After disabling mods, moving JSGME.exe into the games root folder, moving the mods folder, re-running JSGME.exe and re-enabling the mods, all is well. Thanks to you and BigWalleye,it’s like a whole new game!

As for the x86 program folder, I haven’t had to worry about that since turning off UAC. When W7 first came out I did want to keep UAC on and I was able to keep it for a while using the workarounds, one being to install programs outside of x86 program folder. However, with some of the tools used to create content for MS Flight Simulator, that was not an option. So I just turned UAC off. While I wasn’t able to take advantage of the protections that UAC offers, I figured I would still be as safe as previous OS...and to date I have not had any infections.
And thanks Aktungbby for the hearty ‘Welcome Aboard!’.

Wise move (regarding UAC) and welcome to SubSim

I run MS Flight SIM and SH4 with UAC ... I have never had an issue with it being on and I never turn it off.

My issues were not with MS Flight Simulator but rather with a few of the tools used in creating content / Add-Ons for it.
