What a great early Christmas present for us IJN buffs! Here's hoping more IJN wrecks will be found in the coming year!

I disagree I think a ship wreck should be left where it is.It is respectful especially when it is a grave site. Also the sub lays on the bottom off the coast of the Hawaiian islands that means that it is rather deep. The depth off the Hawaiian islands is up to 18,860ft.Remember the Hawaiian Islands are mountains rising up from the bottom of the Pacific Oceans floor and they rise very steeply(not sure if that is a word well now it is). That Japanese fishing boat that got sunk by the US Navy sub a few years back that was just a few miles off shore and it was so deep they had to move the boat into waters closer in to allow Navy divers to recover the bodies. |

agreed it should be left as a war grave.
However, bringing it up may be technically feasible. The K-129 was partially raised from 16,500 feet in 1974. http://w3.the-kgb.com/dante/military/mission.html
