How to Install SH5 (to latest specs.)

Hi

I bought SH5 when it came out and shelved it.
Now I would like to install it on my newish Win7 64bit i7 PC.

This is my question; what's the quickest and easiest way to install it and add all the updates, upgrades, mods & mega-mods so I can have the best experience possible ?

Sorry if it's a basic question.. I can't find an updated (Oct 2013) install guide anywhere obvious. Thanks for any pointers.

I would recommend Sobers mod list, but this is based fully on my opinion.

Edit: you will need JSGME.

Right now I installed it and it patched and updated,
then in Ubisoft Uplay I was told my CD key is already in use by another account

It did previously ask me to change password on my account...
I find this an unfriendly start by Ubisoft...
I mean I have original versions of SH3 SH4 (x2) SH5 ..
Anyway we'll see if they answer my ticket.

Otherwise I'll give up and just focus on Command Modern Naval Air Ops.

Ugh, Uplay is such a pain to use, it's just a matter of time before it takes my game isn't it?

I hope they answer your ticket.

Now I have installed JSGME (or whatever it's called) to the SH5 folder
Then I found "SH5 Mods Workshop" forum (this is where I should have gone 1st!)
I donated, and am downloading Sober_all_n_one28082.. (at snail pace, but never mind). I guess this will do the whole job for me, right?

Now I can't help noticing Volodya61 Mega mod... so which one ?
Fifi, Volodya or Sober ? Goodness knows how I'll ever learn what 50+ mods all do.

SH5 is the hardest game to install I have ever come across...
unless one can consider installing software a game in itself!?*!

You'd do best to read through the sticky's in the mods forum. If you download the sober all in one zip download, be aware that quite a few mods have been updated since .. as has his list as it can be found in the first sticky in the mods forum. His 1st post is ALWAYS leading.

Thanks again to those who gave me pointers...

I am playing with UPlay.. but I don't think it's dragging me down anymore.

I tracked down all the mods and installed the mods according to MEP "sobers 1500 25102013".

An initial impression is favourable, but the external view stutters in response to my mouse, and is not smooth (i7 Radeon Win7 64bit 8Gb) and really annoying is the black screen I get with underwater external views... I want to see underwater !!

No doubt it will take me forever to learn this game.!

I would recommend Sobers megamod based off my opinion, I like the contents, and it can be modified with your own mods to make it better.

And because i use it, I can help you with it.

Well, it's running and i am going after the Warspite.
On accelerated time I get half second lock ups then booted back into windows
on x1 speed I also just got booted out of the game...

I have to say the game was stunning for about 20 minutes..
33% Aft Flooding got my Sub almost vertical and I flipped over backwards once!!

I'll check the stability of my PC and report back...

Well, I've got 4 other heavy simulations rock solid...
SH5 is the only one that boots me to desktop on a regular basis

Now, I do use Razor Game booster.. maybe I can have a look at that...
Does anyone have small locks that turn into half second locks.. (and only get worse) using x4 time ? I went with Sober's latest Mod list.

Thx for any help... I've got to get this thing working.!!!

Could you show me your list?
If it is too big for you rig, it may overload your hardware.
So show me your PC specs aswell.

I will help you to the best of my abilities.

I suggest cutting out mods you may not need or notice, my modlist is based of sobers but with many cut out.

I have noticed your mod list is rather large, mine is less than 40, and you might not need all those mods, and try to make sure they not conflicting, because if too many are conflicting this can cause problems, and the smaller it is, the less chance of getting problems.

Edit : I will show you my modlist once I get home.
