Ok, sinking slow moving merchants is quite easy, you have all the time in the world to make your calculations, line up for a good shot, and sink them. Margin of error is high, as you have slow moving shiplength of margin.
If my calculations are off a little with those 25/35kts moving ships, all that happens is some watchguy spotting bubbles, spotlights flip on, and there I am crashdiving and performing evacive maneuvres untill I can repeat this fun exersize. There is no use in plotting their course using bearing and range, as by the time I have a course, they change it. If I dont get them on first contact, all hell will break loose as some planes and our own taskforce will engage them as well ... when that happens I can kiss any plotting goodbye, and with my luck they change speed/course every time I enter som half baked solution into the TDC and pray to his holyness TFSM to guide my eel to her target. So barring letting them go for the fast moving merchant a little further down, how does one handle them correct with their hulls where gravity wants them to be ? |
