There is a bug in the weather code for SH3, concerning the handling of stormy weather.

This has been fixed in two different ways, once by H.sie (as part of his code patch for SH3), and once by me.

Both solutions replace the damaged envsim.act in stock SH3 with repaired code.

H.sie's solution stops constant storms with random changes to the weather; my solution corrects the original error, to restore the intended weather pattern, but also forcibly interrupts continuous storms.

My solution (which, naturally, I prefer) can be downloaded here.
http://www.subsim.com/mods1/nygm/EnvSimAct_Stiebler.7z

Just unzip the 7z file, and install with JSGME. It will replace (reversibly, if you use JSGME) the stock envsim.act file.

Don't fiddle around with claimed solutions that alter parameters. They can help a little - I wrote the RealWeatherFix myself some time ago - but the two different code patches fix the original error in stock SH3 completely.

Is this mod compatiable with GWX Gold 3.0 & SH3 Cmdr 3.2?
Thanks,
Clay

I use both of those with Stiebler's mod with no issues.

@Borgneface: If the mod you are looking for is called SH3 Weather v1.4, don't use it. It is buggy.
Use Stiebler's or h.sie's weather fixes instead.

S! Rudewarrior :
Ok I realised that SH3 Weather v1.4 was bugged but was not shure if it was my Antivirus that got a bit overzealous or not!
Thank you very much for that confirmation.....

Amicalement

your anti virus may/will get upset with Hsies and stieblers fix too for the initial patch. don't worry it is safe though so don't be to worried if you have to turn off you antiviru/ firewall for a couple of minutes.

Never mind. I could not get either version to run with my nice fresh install of GWX3 Gold, and SH3Cmdr 3.2 with the cfg fix applied to SH3Cmdr 3.2. I will just play without mods for now.

It's always better to unzip files to the desktop, then place them in the MODS folder.

Just be aware that it doesn't change the way weather works in the game. Its only purpose is to let you change the weather at the start of the patrol, so it isn't always perfect when you set out from port.

Oh, no, the weather changes normally as prescribed by the game's routines. SH3 Weather only affects the weather at the start of the patrol. After that if functions as normal. I don't know whether it would be a good idea to use SH3 Weather in conjunction with any of the weather fix mods, though.
