Default Woot!

March 1945. Coming down to the wire. Did my patrol off the east cost of Britain in shallow water, then went north of Scapa Flow heading for the Rockall Bank to look for a convoy.

I found a task force. Moving fast at 23 knots. Fairly rough weather. Revenge class battleship and the HMS Howe. I crippled the Revenge with a homing torpedo and tagged the Howe with another. The Revenge actually sank from it. But the Howe dogged on, rudder jammed over (but still going in a straight line...). I went deep and came up and followed, and found the Howe limping along with no escorts. They left her!

She was still making 15 knots and it was a hard chase in my XXI underwater. I tagged her 2 more times from the rear with homing torpedoes. Not much effect.

I finally got around and in front of her and put 2 torps into her side and another under her chin. She went down before the last torp blew up under her.

70,000 ton patrol.

The Revenge-class BB's seem to be extremely vulnerable to torpedoes. I bagged the Royal Oak to the west of the channel with one single torpedo-hit right at the bow tip of her. After the hit the apparently did full throttle forwards merely plunging herself deeper and deeper.

I will investigate this further. Could the Revenge really be so meagerly armored? Two separate incidents by separate u-boat commanders on separate dates almost confirms this.

Congratulations on an awarding patrol, herr kaleun
