Default Yamato in Sibuvan Sea sunk

Well it's Oct. 24 early morning and my stake out has worked.
On my radar I pick up dd and behind I see a rather large fleet.
Location, 121.50 by 12.40 N time is 8:02 AM.
As I work my way the air attacks begin at 9:02 and before you know it there is large, and I mean large number of downed air crew.
By the time the lead dds have passed I come up from 52 meters and there is my dream target. Yamato, she took six hits suffered internal explosions.

After it was go deep and silent for a while I headed south then came back when my sonar showed it safe, and I picked up 13 downed airmen.

The main part is the location and time of the intercept works perfectley for the Center force.

So all I had to do was drop my mission goal and just go and wait.

Love it.

Sounds like RSRD, lurker has several large air groups attacking there before they enter the San Bern.

You didn't say you sunk the Yamato, did you? Never seen it done with 6 torps unless M16's.

If you hang around the Yamato will be returning the same way. It heads to Brunei Bay in Borneo. If you want some real action, hang around Brunei the month of November. Most of the groups go back there after Leyte and will come out in Nov in several different TF going to different places. Seems about Nov 8-14. Try to ignore the several large convoys so you have torps for the BB's and CV's.

Yamato down

OK I am running SH4 with 1.4 only I tried a couple of mods but have not found one that I am happy with.

The torpedos were the one's with only 41 knot setting.
Yamato took one hit right under the barrels of a this was at 8 m's then one the rest set at 10 m's. The seas were very rough so ended up opening up the bottom of ship the last five hits, the one that did here in were under the engine rooms.

The composition of the Center Force were wrong they had somewhere near to 10 heavy cruisers,,, get this ,,,, a FUSO in the main line.
No worry though I got here with three from the stern tubes.

The thing that got me was when were making Fighting Steel we did our best to make sure that there were no wrong ships in a battle. If there was one, it was a ship put in to make up for one that was not in the game yet.
Say Java Sea, I put the K class cruiser in to make up for no Dutch light cruisers with the 5.9 in guns.

Ah yea, stock traffic is not historically accurate.Which mods did you try? Trust me, upgrade to 1.5 so can get the outstanding mods like TMO/RFB and RSRD.RSRD reworks the traffic to be realistic. The center force is depicted accurately unlike in stock.

RSRD doe's have the correct ships in the battle, except for those not in the game. The Fuso is used to replace the Nagato class since it's not in the game. Think Kurita had 5 BB's in the group which RSRD has, including all the CA's. Not only does RSRD have correct ship types it has correct ports and courses. The Center Force leaves Singy to Brunei to the battle taking the exact historical course, as do the other groups.

Default The real battles

Whops made a mistake I started in the Philippines not at Pearl. This was when I got the first taste of the way the game follows some of the war. It was the landing force at Lingayen Gulf. There I got my first heavy cruisers.

The mods I have tried with just 1.4 do not give me the options I want, like one did not have the < > views, the other there was no way of knowing if the target is friendly or not till you get a visual.
Yeah this is the easy way to play but thats me I guess.

The reason it took so long to get to SH4 was my love SH3 GWX.

I do agree this stock version of SH4 is to easy but the dynamic missions and just the experiances of the game are what I am enjoying now.

Here is my plan though finish this career hopefully at the end of the war then start one at the beginning this and go for all the major naval battles instead of followin mission orders when they conflict.
Guadalcanal is the one I would really like to see.

Mind you I have started to have fun building ship fighting ship scenario's but they dont add up to FS. Sure we got the graphics but the rest doesn't do it for me.

Is there any mods suggestions for someone like with only 1.4 or wait and just get 1.5??

You can play why you wait, I would get TMO and RSRD for 1.4, older versions but still a great game. At least get RSRD if you want battles, stock doesn't even do the battle of GC, nor all the other big battles there like eastern solomons, santa cruz, savo, etc., in the area during 42.

Hands down I bow to you....

Thanks for the advice I will download TMO and RSRD now and give it a try I am just back from my patrol.

Hey just how many mission goals have you been given in a single patrol?
The most I got was 6 goals and at that I managed to get just 5.

I seen a post of the downloads at UBI's site funny though they all are here.

Ok off to start downloading..

Thanks Gentlemen

Welcome abroad fisherstoys1.
As long as you keep sending in Contact Reports, they'll keep giving you new mission goals. When I first started playing SHIV, I swear I must've completed 12 of them before I figured something must be wrong. Then, I searched the forum and learned to maintain strict radio discipline. Now, I only complete the first one, and then again, sometimes I don't. Either way, I sink ships and still get credit, new subs, upgrades, etc.

Really, I think you would be better off getting 1.5 U-boat missions. Nobody is making mods for 1.4 and most are not satisfied with 1.4 for very long. You will not be able to port a career when you start playing 1.5 with mods, so you might as well get it now.

Default And he got spanked

Ok now Armistead I got smacked.
I tryed TMO with RSRD and sorry not to my liking I put tried to alter TMO and change the command line that is in the readme to get out my >< views back but they did not work.
So went to just RSRD, now this is good work. I like the invasion force that shows up at Lingayen Gulf.
THE problem started there I got away afther knocking off the the light ca a troop transport and one tanker. Later on I detected an aircraft did a fast dive to 30 m's and by thunder, the explosion came clear I could even blow ballast to get to the surface...

Thanks to everyone for the answers to my question,, now I know about them pesky reporting flaws now just to redo my pacific campaign. I want to go through the whole war.
Thanks to my experment with the TMO - RSCD I had to start the war over again.

Are you talking about the external cam command lines. That's an easy fix and should work, has for everyone else.
