Help Please. Silly question

Hola All,
Recently bought SH5 and installed the "Aram Victoria Curam" mod after a couple of missions with the vanilla version. What a letdown that was, but thanks for the modders once again

Anyway, I like to play with realistic settings but still love to check out external view quite often. For some reasons I've been unable to do so.
I first select my preferred gameplay settings, all ticked but external view, and then launch 1st campaign where a drop down menu appears to confirm "realistic". I assumed all was good to go but once the mission starts I do not have the external view, ever.

What am I missing? Driving me nuts...
