thats what im screamin' yet the only dedicated example we have is Microprose's B-17 The Mighty Eighth circa 2000
Its been over 10 freakin years man! and when i have this on MSFS... this dont cut it. sure there are mods for combat flight sim, and pacific fighters etc that let you fly a B-17... but what about something on the microprose scale... the Silent Hunter 3 with GWX of the B-17 simulator world? what gives ? ![]()

I want full-sized missions. Not just 100. You can do that in il-2 right now sorta.

I'd definitely buy a sim like that, especially if it could be expanded to include (at the very least) Lancasters and Libby's.

![]() The Mighty Eighth would be a step up, but I've never tried it. I still have the original running on DOSBox, and I'm still waiting for a worthy followup. Just as long as it has random missions, and not the same 25 every time I play, I'll sign up. Are you going to post a new thread when you release it?

I almost purchased that but spent my milk money on something else.
Milk i think it was. ![]() at any rate. I enjoy B-17 the mighty eighth, its a good game overall. But... the graphics are terrible (after all it is 10 years old) you never have more than like... 16 B-17s on screen. the sound is easily messed up. a good copy is hard to find. you only get the one paint scheme despite the ability to select from several different bomb groups and squadrons. lack of multiplayer is a real bummer. but there is a fun quality about the game in general. basically i think if they revamped the B-17 series like they did between SH2 and SH3 youd have a hell of a fun game on your hands.

![]() Nope, it lacks B-24's, B-25's and lets not forget the RAF Bombers like the Halifax, Lancaster etc. drop the storyline, just give me a campaign system like the one in BoBII:WoV Then I'm Game ![]() HunterICX

A bomber sim with all the relevant planes and a 12 O'Clock High-esque campaign engine, that would be...awesome...

And that's where the problems start. People want to be ably to fly every single bomber type there was, so instead of a highly detailed, historically accurate true simulator that focuses every detail on one type right down to the last switch you end up getting something more and more arcade as you add flyable types.
I'm all for including B-24s and B-25s and Lancasters... But if such planes are included the have to be historically accurate in their operation. As far as a linear campaign of 25 missions... Why couldn't it be dynamic? There would literally be hundreds of factories, plants, airfields, rail yards, bridges etc to bomb in theory. And with nearly any start year the campaigns would differ a bit each time you played. I chose 25 missions simply because that's how many a B-17 crew was required to complete (late war was 35).
