Default Woot!!!! Nailed the Aquitania twice in one patrol!

Well, looks like I made up for my frustration in this patrol:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181480

In my last patrol I ran across the Aquitania TWICE in the SAME PATROL!

In the first convoy, once again, she fell out of line of a convoy, sinking. I put a single torpedo into her just as the escorts were closing in on me (I surface too soon after my attack), and sank her. June 15, 1943, 6:28am, AM54, 45,557 tons.

Then I ran across her in a second convoy two days later! June 17, 1943, 6:35am, AM79, 45,558 tons!

Ended the patrol with 2,640 renown.

Only sank 4 ships that patrol but it was something like 55,000 tons.

How can 4 ships, 2 of which are give or take 50k, = 55k?

Or do you mean 95k?

Anyways, got any pics? Would love t osee some.

Lucky you.

I only sunk it once in 1940 I think when it was traveling alone from USA to Britain, or vice versa.

After that, in 1943, I had a frustrating patrol in which I met her in a convoy, got into perfect position, launched 4 eels... .... .... now the timer started ticking beyond the red line..... nothing I considered manning the deck gun after that.

Enjoy your renown, you will need it with all them upgrades, by the way did you get the snorkel already?

In the patrol where I sunk the Aquitania I ended with almost 100.000 tons
As far as I remember the Aquitania is 44.000 tons, so just 55.000 for 2 Aquitania is too low

He probably only sunk one half of it, the other one stayed afloat.

Yeah I must have miss-remembered the tonnage - that number stuck in my head after I had sunk the FIRST Aquatania! I had already sunk a Lone Tramp Steamer just between Lerwick and Bergen, and I blindly hit an Empire Freighter in the same convoy with the first Aquatania.

SH3 Commander says my final tonnage was 99,859.

I can't do screen shots because I'm running the Hi Res mod, which causes SH3 to crash if I try to do a screen shot or even if I try to do a screen cap with FRAPS.

But, here is my log from SH3 Commander.

The last time I played the game this far (I was not playing dead is dead), I did not find the snorkel to be very useful. In fact, it's dangerous. You can't sense incoming radar when you are running snorkel, and so you get bombed and never see it coming.

I find radar detection and a good watch crew are more useful than the snorkle.

The snorkel is useful when you absolutely need to recharge and can't surface.

Yeah I just ran the tonnage numbers and the 54K was before I nailed that last Aquatania. Guess I was counting up my tonnages and was happy just with that! Then I bagged another one!
