GWX 3.0 Fails to Install

I have downloaded GWX3.0 from Jimbuna´s Filerfront into a folder on Desktop.

When I get past the wolf howl and the screenies to the screen to begin instalation, I get the following message:

An error occurred while trying to read the source file.
The source file is corrupted.

My OS is Win7, I had no problem loading GWX three weeks ago
o

What to do? What to do?

You're not having much luck lately are you mate, what with your damaged hard drive the other day
The fact that you said you managed to install it with no problems the other day is strange indeed, because I WAS going to say Win 7 could be the problem,it all depends on whether SH3 can support (officially that is) the new windows format.
Other than that I cant help anymore,I hope you manage to get it sorted soon,we're missing Balz you know

Win 7 not a problem, have you checksum'd the files using JScones' wonderful MD5Mate?

http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsmd5m.html

And you might want to read this thread first...

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...ecksum+md5+GWX

Good luck, fingers crossed, et al

File corruption is not always due to the source file; it can be due to a fault in the download. You should always run the MD5 if it is available on downloaded files.
I suggest you save the file to a DVD once you have obtained a valid copy. I also suggest you save a copy of the SH3GWX3.0 to DVD and or/an external hard drive so to reinstall all you have to do is copy it to your hard drive.

I think (never used it myself) that there is a number that either the host (or the GWX team?) provide and it is a reference to the file content (size?).

You then run the MD5 prog to see if it has the same number once you've downloaded it - it should mean it's all there. Otherwise you've got another mighty download to do

I'm quite certain that somebody will correct us on this if it is in any way wrong - and so they should

Did you download from Jim's FileFront page, as the others have had problems recently?

Okay.....I'm running XP Pro OS so I only hope W7 is similar.

Might as well make this info public here as it may help others in the future.

You've d/l MD5 and installed it to C\ProgramFiles (I presume)?

Double click on the icon (I've put mine on the desktop to show you) and open up the programme...it should look like this:

Copy the figures I posted earlier and put them safely into notepad for potential future use.

Come back when your this far...I'm waiting

Okay...round 2

Put the GWX3.0 exe and the 7 bin files into a folder.

Keep your Notepad file handy with the codes I posted earlier:

9570f781cf01bab3f62ba4c1f9004752 *GWX3.exe
26d9990cb1c0432dcc842e7944527716 *GWX3-1.bin
bc5ff15ef32aea5e3c32d7e13444eab7 *GWX3-2.bin
3f05acc6c52d2ba3d85b6355943d3fad *GWX3-3.bin
d047a888f99633e9e612245feb9b790c *GWX3-4.bin
dee9928fa1988e256f0adabfee956371 *GWX3-5.bin
b723696a596633c32079d1f28746cca1 *GWX3-6.bin
2126d073454513a3bb27777e38ef907f *GWX3-7.bin

Open MD5 like below.

Select your first file (in this case the exe) by clicking on the right hand box at the end of the empty area 1, navigate to the exe and click on it to put it in.

Now enter the corresponding file code (copy and paste) from the Notepad file in area 2.

Now click on 3 Compare.

You should get the message in blue at the bottom 'The MD5 sums are the same!

This means the file is okay.

If you get the message in red, two pictures down, you have a faulty file and will need to d/l it again.

Now repeat this process for the remaining 7 files and you will then be in a position of knowing if the problem is either file or computer related.

I checked all the files this morning and they are okay at this end but it is possible you got a corrupted file during the d/l operation.

YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME TO ADD A COPY OF GWX ON A DISC LAST MONTH YA SILLY BUGGA!!

Hindsight is such a wonderful quality

PS Not a proper site (as far as I know), so don't try clicking it - I don't know what you'll get!

PPS And I'm guessing at Chile, I know it's somewhere that way on.
