Cruising speed should be 10 knots to get the best range.

Bdu will be a bit disappointed, that's all. You can still advance to the next campaign.
However, there are few campaign that require to finish all missions in the previous campaign. For example the Operation Drumbeat will not be available if you not finish all missions in the Mare Nostrum or Western Approaches.

Yep.

First campaign has no penalties, so you can go and choose any of the next 2 campaigns. To be advised.. don't go for Mare Nostrum, all who played that campaign had huge frustration level in finding the mission objectives, so...

Im having problems with Blockade of Germany as well (I find setting my sub speed to 7kts gets me to the patrol area with 91% or so fuel left... but thats from Willemshaven).

My problem is I cant see to find ANY warships in the patrol area.... I find plenty in the Northern approach from Scappa, and in the channel between England and Ireland. But none in range of the stupid mission

This is a bug that has carried over from SH3 to 4 now 5. never save just after you sink a ship, or damage a ship. Make sure when you save your at least 50km away...then save. if you dont then there is a chance the sunk ship will come back to life, or a 100% chance a damaged ship will be 100% healthy again.

Also ....never saved submerged.

I've gotten the advice about not saving near damaged or sunken ships, but I've not heard that a player shouldn't save while submerged.

Why for? How come?

It was a bug with SH3 (or was it SH4?? cant remember) where if you saved submerged, when you reloaded the game your sub would sink quickly to crush depth and you died.

Just to be on the safe side if this bug traveled to SH5...I woudlnt save submerged.

****SPOILER ALERT****

@Zekicoli... The AMC ships can be found just outside of Loch Ewe. That is were they spawn. The carrier can be found at Portsmouth in the English channel. Wait for them to start out on thier routes before sinking them , if you torpedo them while they are stationary in port you will get no credit.

Yes. You dont have to finish the previous mission to move to the next. People say that the NEXT mission (if you dont finish the previous) will be harder with more escorts and such. Now SOME missions DO require you to finish all of the previous in the dates given (example Operation Drumbeat).

Have I said recently I HATE these scripted, "must finish" missions...
