Balz Disaster

Balz had two great patrols and managed to sink 60,000 BRT on his last patrol. This included the Rodney.

Disaster struck yesterday. Had to take computer to the shop. Diagnosis, damaged hard drive has to go and I've lost everything on it. I've had the computer 5 weeks. Grrrrr.

So I called Balz and said, "You have to move back in time and start from scratch."
"You miserable scribbler,"' Balz yelled. "You treat your characters like dirt. You send them into danger, you create problems for them and then send them back in time? Outrageous!!

"Pipe down, Balzie," I said in the soothing tone I use to deal with characters outraged by what they have to do in a story. "We'll have party while we wait and you can wear a tuxedo and impress the ladies."

"All right," Balz grumbled. "But, I call it a dinner suit." Balz assumed a heroic pose. First one must wear correct underwear." He then hoisted on a pair of red boxer shorts with golden Teddy bears high enough to reach his chest. He tucked his shirt into the shorts and put his trousers on.

"Your shorts are showing, " I said.

Balz flipped the top of the shorts over his belt. "Shorts? That's my coverbuns."

NB

Balz reports will resome once I get the 'puter back and GWX reloaded.

It's not like we haven't started over before. Hundreds of great Balz stories in the past. Will wait with baited breath.

No, will go on with life normally until our magificent hero returns.

Default We wish Balz and the gang a speedy recovery

Brag,
You had the hard drive only 5 weeks?! daft question but any idea what may have gone wrong with it? mind sharing what make it is,ie Western Digital (very good brand, with data recovery software included normally)
The only thing I can come up with is that somehow the drive got formatted without you knowing, hardly possible but I once did it with an external hard drive,I formatted my entire system with a clean install of XP while having an external hard drive (containing all game data, saves, mods, patches etc) still connected effectively formatting THAT in the process! I was not pleased and it took me ages to reaqquire all the stuff I had downloaded over the years
Either that or somehow it has taken a bang or knock damaging the platter that writes the data.

Get well soon

@ Paul Riley
Computer is a locally assembled machine. The techs asked me the same questions.

The only good thing is, I had little stuff in it and mostly backed up and the rig is under warranty.

As I use the cheapest (1 gig) broadband, it takes me over six hours to download GWX

@ Vendor

Will start new career at August 39 point (probably next week.

@Everyone.
Thanks for the good wishes
