Default Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

This is my big THANK YOU! to everyone here at Subsim. I have just completed my first completely successful mission in SH3. I sank over 30K tons in September of '39 and didn't take a lick of damage. Heck, no one even pinged me. I used every piece of advice that I've received here including passing on some juicy targets because I thought the situation was not completely perfect.

I made one mistake (that I noticed) the whole time and this was it. I sank a French merchant ship off their western coast. I was watching it sink and the last thing above the water was the mast with the flag on it. I prepared to take a screen shot with just the flag sticking out of the water as it sunk. I waited and waited and waited but it seemed to be taking forever to sink. Actually, it didn't seem to be moving at all. Is that ship sinking or what? C'mon Grey Wolves, this is ridiculous. What do they have, styrofoam coolers for cargo?

"Navigator, depth under keel?"

"Depth under keel, 15 meters, sir".

"Holy $#*&%$&#. Someone get us the $*&%&# out of here!!!"

Congratulations!
Indeed, this forum is really great - the only thing you need is time and patience to actually read everything, and you'll find real treasures in the ocean of information. That's why I spend most of the time here just reading and reading and reading...

" I sank a French merchant ship off their western coast " .....

Little too close in - on th' continental shelf? Or just off one o' th' ports there?

Nice hunting. I think we've all wondered into some shallows and I'm quite good nowadays - at least you didn't find out the hard way that it wasn't deep...

Excellent patrol, excellent story!

And look on the bright side. At least you weren't surprised and attempting to crash dive when you discovered the depth.
