Default Ubisoft DRM cracked.

I only frequent the SHIII forum, so I'm posting here. Thought you fellows might be interested to know that the Ubisoft phone-home DRM has reportedly been cracked.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-27076_3-20003120-248.html

Personally I'm not buying or otherwise acquiring the game anyway, because I don't want to support this kind of software.

But it's good news. One can hope that seeing how futile such efforts are will stop companies from wasting money on them in the future.

Be careful with these kinds of posts here, maillemaker. They get locked down pretty quickly these days.

krashkart is right.
wouldn't want to see maillemaker brigged or keel-hauled ....

and the c....k only refers to AC2.
can't imagine that SH5 is in the focus (due to low sales and the embarassing state of the game even after the first patch).

I'd prefer UBI to withdraw the U-play-connectivity, until then my wallet stays closed.

As I said in my post, I'm not advocating piracy.

I just think that DRM is an issue that affects gamers like us and this is a newsworthy event.

I think these kinds of "features" are entirely to the detriment of people like me who buy software legitimately, and it pleases me entirely to see them defeated.

I have no problem with your post at all, Steve.
(just look at my sig, I'm a radical )

but there were some troubles in the SH5-board regarding this specific topic ......

I'm ducking, too

But we're safer here than in the Purchies' forum.

I'd post here, but somehow I think that'd be the same as cruising on the surface past six Black Swans with only 20 meters under keel.

Oops . . .

Too late.

Well... his post is more about the news piece that CNET posted on their website... There is no link towards an illicit website or file... It is just a news and he is only pointing us to that news. Besides, we all knew this would happen someday, it is just now done...
