Default make your own campaign ?

Hi folks

I am still on the outside looking in - so one question to the modders: Is there a way to build your own campaign ? Or are we stuck with the UBI campaign ?

Hi

Thank you for your answer - given the structure, will the created campaign be independent from online package exchange ? (You know, where I am heading ...)

And - in your eyes - would it be easy for ordinary users to - say - build their own missions and connect them to a campaign ?

I read here - or at UBI forums - that the basic campaign engine is further developed after SH3. (Not of the scripted type like SH2). Does that mean, that a choice like in SH3 basically is basically possible with user own missions - like start in 1941 ? (Including the necessary change of GUI)

It would be nice to have an easy to use interface like IL2 in order to build your own campaign and realistic "targets". It seems possible to - say - build basic missions, connect them, and let the campaign engine build the other environmental elements like traffic and weather and so on.

The official campaign everybody is playing, seems to me to be rather boring - mainly because of the arcade like targets. And not adavcing because of 100000 tons not destroyed is rather childish in my eyes.

Play with MissionEditor2.exe in SH5 main directory.

You can add mission layers to various parts of the campaign - the structure is very powerful.

I don't get the idea with "building basic missions and connecting them". That would be SH2 !?

The "not advancing" part is simply NOT TRUE. The game continues and the campaign advances no matter what you do or not do. The question is, HOW does it advance. Like in real life but unlike sh3/4, your actions may have short or long term consequences.

@elanaiba

The game is incredible. The fact that you've given us tools to Mod is unprecedented. I for one am very grateful. Will Patch 1.2 be the last? How do we get the Minefields and Subnets working? As you can see, I've tried to implement Icebergs

Well - in IL2, you basically build your own missions from scrap (with a powerful map editor). You can connect them into a campaign and it works like a continous campaign.

I thought of a similar approach here - connect different missions (e.g. you build your own missions based on historical facts) into a campaign.

Ok. Got that point - even it is not clear to me, how that would play out in a "private" campaign ?

LOL - no.

"Private" was misleading. "User built" may be the better word.

In IL2, you are even able to set parameter like "war status" (by defining front lines and such).

Poor guy - so I am kind of answering.

No seriously - maybe you should start your own thread. It usually gets more attention than just the zillionth remark in an existing one ...

good luck to you

Missions have start date and end date.
By completing objectives you will gain crosses.
Time is going regardless you completed mission or not like in real life.

And as far I know for built in missions (don't know how crosses replacing works for user added missions...?):
It has no impact on campaign - no effects,
Crosses you can replace for some additional bonus missions etc. on ubi web site?

It would be nice to see some effects of our efforts in campaign!
But what effects it could be?

Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you, I was away from my comp or busy hammering work for 99% of the day.

I appreciate your work and your kind words, be sure of that.

Re: 1.2 being the last, I have no idea. I hope not, but you can never tell.

Look forward to what you have to say
Perhaps you could look into land units and camera out of sectors around icebergs too

Mission Ed is a powerfull tool
Slowly coming to grips with some of its hidden secrets but a manual or instructions would have been good

@ HKLE
I guess is possible to construct a campaign made up of various missions
Oh wait thats what SH5 already has
Sure you can change those or start afresh
Not sure using a series of single missions would be the way to go though as in my few tries with single missions in SH5 it only loads what is on that mission
NOT the rest of the campaign
Happy to be proved wrong though

In SH3 a single mission would mean the game loaded the entire campaign also which I guess is what you are looking for in reference to IL2 ?
