Default [REL] Silent Skins U-9D2 & U-18

**UPDATED**

After a few hours working on the NSM for Silent Hunter v1.5, I decided to take a break from looking at digits (I'd swear I was going blind). Fooskin did some nice skins for the American submarines so I thought as a side project, it would be good to do clean skins for the U-boats. If I die while trying to undertake so many projects at once, then I'm glad to know it's for a good cause. There's two versions. One is a simple copy over and the other is for JSGME.

The skins do have small imperfections but not serious.

I'm going to need to fix it up later cause some of the rivets are missing for some reason. When I make an update in about 10hrs, I'll revise the current U-9D2 skin.

Stay tuned.

Very nice skins.

One request, though. Could you use jpg format for your screenshots instead of the ridiculously overbloated .png format? Close to a megabyte per small pic is a bit of a strain on even the broadband users, much less the dialup folks. It will make uploading them easier on yourself as well

PNG is not overbloated, it is an amazingly versatile, free and open image format.

It can offer lossless compression, jpeg offers huge compression, at the cost of huge quality loss.

PNGs can of course be tweaked to be much "lighter" files, tweaking compression method and level.

And after all, in this case it might be justified to use a high quality format, since he is showing a hard work in his skins, not just a funny "Bernard" screenie or torpedo shot.

My 2 euro cents.

They are officially done. Not nearly as difficult to make the U-18 as it was the U-9D2.

Converting now. Gimme a few minutes. I'm sorry about that, I didn't realize until uploading the new screens.

I dare you to tell the difference with your naked eye between an 80% jpeg and a .png. My redneck 2 cents:rotfl: Seriously, you're talking about a screenshot from a game which can only be so "high quality".

Thanks, Snaptrap. Sorry if I came off a bit like a grumpy old man. Oh wait, I am a grumpy old man Grumpy or not, they're still great skins.

That's not a problem. I never interpreted it as a grumpy comment. It needed to be done. Besides, I'm too tired to notice. One more update for today and then time for rest.

I don’t see the skins for download in you filefront account.
Did you delete them from your account or am I blind?
