Default Patch 1.4b will not work!?

Hey guys after a long shore leave I am finally coming back to SH3 mainly to try out GWX 3.

Unfortunately I can not seem to get the 1.4b patch to work. When it goes to update the game from 1.0 to 1.3 I get an error regarding a menu or something. I thought it was because I just installed the game and hadn't entered the serial key so I rebooted and entered the key and still no joy.

Can someone please help me, I've gone to UBI but they only have 1.3?

Thxz finally found it and of course it worked. Something struck me odd when the error I was getting was de_menu.txt:unknown.

I was like de? Isn't that German?

Hey guys while I have your attention I have downloaded GWX 3, and while the mission loads on my first mission it says 1,2 Flotilla should do this and 7th Flotilla should do this. I realize I'm starting in August, but when you select where to play from, it doesn't say 1,2 or 7th it says ..... whatever it says in German Wedigen ect.

Can anyone tell me what the heck its trying to tell me to do. I normaly start out of Kiel so which flotilla is that and how do I complete it. Because it says a 5 day shake down and the RTB, do I really need to do that? Or should I go to the patrol point the game gives me?

Never mind having clicked on the ... in SH3 Commander it told me everything I needed to know.

My God has it really been this long since I've played SH3? I'm ashamed of myself.

Or change crew. Which more or less means the same in SH3-speak.

Well made it through my first patrol and I am ordered right back out. I suppose this is simulating "training". While might be kind of boring its nice to get my crew exp up a bit so that they are a little more prepared once the 1st rolls around.

Man have I missed my Type IIa.

If your using SH3 Commander anh have chosen the 7th Flotilla, set days in port to '20'........on day 4 of your patrol you will receive a radio message recalling you back to base.....teleport back (Esc) and apply for a transfer to 1st or 2nd Flotilla....your next patrol should commence 24th August thus allowing you to travel to your assigned patrol grid prior to the commencement of hostilities....as happened in RL.

I would say that's true of any flotilla. I do a quick turnaround when I'm with the 2nd at Wilhelmshaven. Then I set it to 18 days, so I get sent to the Atlantic on the 19th - the same day that 14 boats really did go out. Then I patrol at high TC until September 3 and wait for the vict...the ships to come visit me.

With a Type II these days I start on September 1, since none of them were sent out before time. I kept doing turnarounds and by the time the war started I had done six 'patrols'.

Set aside a few days (you'll need it) and give the GWX manual a read.

Indeed I ventured into it yesterday when I was trying to remember how I set the pilot course for the Kiel Canal and it appears to be somewhere in the 600-800 page range........

Hell I've read Tom Clancy books that are shorter than that.
