Default US Wins British Tank Order

Granted, BAE didn't do themselves any favours but here's further evidence of the British government turning its back on its own industry:

Couldn't BAE have thrown in a few bribes to secure the contract, or have they been caught doing that too often.

Shame this is leaving British shores.

However, on the bright side, if the Yanks build them, they are less likely to want to blow them up on the battlefield.

And BAe was just getting its act together too. Times like these the government should be encouraging local growth, no offense to our American colleagues.

Oh I fully understand and agree

We may not have heard the end of this yet...

But the Conservatives branded the move precipitous. The shadow Defence Secretary, Liam Fox, said: "It is quite wrong for the Government to sign multibillion-pound contracts, unless they are urgent operational requirements for Afghanistan, just weeks before a general election and ahead of a strategic defence review which all parties are committed to."

Its not all bad news, as BAE got the contract to design the new type 26 Frigate, and build 4 more Astute class Submrines.
Should keep Barrow shipyard busy for a while.

Pics are unlikely because I don't think she's even in the design stage yet.

Although:

Take what you will from the 3D model in this article.
