Dunno if we've seen these screenies or not. There are a couple that show someone using the periscope. Is this another officer or is it the player in 3rd person? Also there's mention of being sunk by enemy torpedos(!)

Let's start peering through the periscope. Has a poetic ring to it. Especially at 40,000 leagues beneath the sea, that's like 220,000km.

And MSDOS' Aces of the Deep ...say what?

Oh, boy, my worst fears come true....

The introduction of an experience system, first person views and a customizable U-boat almost make it seem like a mash-up of 'Oblivion-meets-Need for Speed-meets-Underwater World'.
/facepalm

What brought us to this lowly state?!

Default Yay 40,000 leagues under the sea, my U-Boat has secret abilities

Aw Neal
Dont be too hard on the guy - look at it this way, its the first review by any one as far as I can tell that's not only tried to revew the game but also make ference to the thing which must not be named that begins with D, and he's actually critical imagine that a games review whose critical !!!!

I liked the 40,000 leagues under the sea thing, but at least we know the guy's interested in the real aspects of game play not just kissing publisher or developer bottoms

My Two Cents Worth

I myself am guilty of deliberately steering clear of simulators, as if they didn't even exist.
Thats where I stopped reading.

Respect! He got something right:
Quote:
One thing did strike me as very odd whilst researching this game; this is an online single player game. Yep, you read correctly, you have to be connected to the internet, AND sign up for an account with Ubisoft to play Silent Hunter 5. What if you don't have internet access? Too bad! What if, while playing the game, your internet crashes? Then the game will pause itself until it is reconnected, and if that doesn't work, Ubisoft's server will 'remember' your last save game and you can resume playing your SINGLE player campaign, right after you connect to the world wide web and sign into your account. In my opinion, this just sounds like a terrible idea. Yes, an internet connection is vital for multiplayer modes, and even then it is not required whilst playing on a LAN, but multiplayer is exactly where it should stay!

He depressed me with the DRM garbage again. I still can't believe the clowns put that in the game.

I'm glad some of you unlike me have the courage and fortitude to not buy the game. But me, I have no will power and have been waiting for too long, So I will go for my 1 year chip next time.

In fact, it seems quite relaxing being 40,000 leagues under the sea, that is, unless you are at war.
There you have it, they have broken the depth barrier.

This may be the start of a new sub-genre (no pun intended), a 'SimPG' if you will.
You may not have intended it but the Pun is undoubtedly there.

I fear it may be more like this.
