Default New supergun on SH5 !

Good news!

On type VIIA we have a fast-firing 88 cm (34") deck gun on board!
Very good - we can fight with HMS Hood with our artillery - Hood's main artillery was only 8x34 cm (8x13")... we have only one but 2 times higher now....
Yeah!!!!

I'm pissed, in my last GWX patrol I waited for 10 days near Narwick for Warspite or any other BB. 4DD"s came strolling by me at 35+ knots but no BB. How do you hit a 35 knot DD?! Their length passes the impact point in less than 2 seconds! Heck, even opening a tube takes longer than that. I shot at 4 of them and barely managed to hit ONE. I mean.. cmon!

I hope the new 88 will fix that. No more mister silent guy.... I'll take out all my torpedoes and fill the sub with shells

Game specific Ubisoft websites have always been fairly awful in my experience. Glad to see they're keeping with tradition at least.

it's fast firing because it has a semi automatic breech....
you ever think in relative terms? or do you just see the words fast firing and think machine gun...

but nice try trying to bash ubisoft.
I'm getting sick of this

No one mentioned the "fast firing" aspect.

It's the 88cm that is odd.
88cm is over 2 foot. That's one hell of a big gun.

BOOM!

First thing I thought of was the 'fast firing' aspect and the heated debates over the rate of fire in the modding forums

Yeah, it's also twice the bore size of a Yamato class battleship. It can be as fast as it likes, with an automatic breech, but you'll only be able to carry two shells for the giant cannon.

See video here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_David

Also, the largest gun used in combat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwerer_Gustav
Quote:
They weighed nearly 1,350 tonnes, and could fire shells weighing seven tonnes to a range of 37 kilometers (23 miles).
And that's an 80cm gun.

Please, stop blaming the community for the well-documented limitations that have already been revealed, by UBI I might add, regarding this game.

If this game tanks it's not the fault of the subsim community in any way. Trust me on this one. No. Seriously. It's not.
