Default GWX 3.0 Errors

Hello,

I have SHIII that I got via D2D, and installed GWX 3. All the installation when just fine, my problem is when the game loads at first, the bar stops at about 4/5 of the way, and I get this error "There is a new ( non implimented ) page: <Page Ingame Options>!" followed by another error " Menu ID not found: 0x1a000008! " and then the game crashes.

Can anyone out there help me find, or know of a solution?

Thanks for any help in advance!!!

EDIT: I am a noob so please help!

Let me guess....your OS is Vista.

If this is the case, the installation is looking for a modified file that doesn't exist.

Have you had SH3 installed on your system previously?

Your problem is based within the menu_1024_768.ini more than likely.

No, I use XP SP3 - and this was the first time SH3 was installed on this pc. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled according to the steps on the GWX website. I have confirmed that my version of my D2D SH3 is 1.0 ( I checked the sh3.exe version ) so I tried using the silent_hunter_3_download_1.4b_emea.exe patch as well as the silent_hunter_3_DVD_1.4b_emea.exe patch an get the same error while patching. " de_menu.txt: unknown version "

This is my problem now, any ideas?

Yes, delete the menu file ( Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII/data/menu/de_menu ) and it will install.

Thank you irish1958! I had to delete two files and now it works. By the way, my hats off to the team that created this mod, its easily the most professional and pain-staking I've ever seen out of a community of players - BRAVO!

Now, can anyone school me in how to sinks some ships? I'm brand new to this game, and am reading the 600+ page doc's, but could use some pointers. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Start with low realism settings (auto targeting etc) and work your way up to 100% for a really rewarding learning experience

It is pretty hard, but once you play enough and learn the moves you'll be a good captain in no time and remember that in sinking a ship and fighting as a U-boat commander, it takes alot of patience, don't rush!

Use every resource that you can and take your time when attacking an enemy ship (making sure you identify that it is one), and until it's bearing, speed, and aob come to you more clearly and you agree with it, fire and see how well you did in calculating.

If you need a good manual, here is one of Wazoo's training manuals to get you started!

lol ya, my first mission out I got overly excited and sunk a German troop carrier :\ but I made up for it by sinking two tankers and two frigates... then I was in such a hurry to get back to dock, I accidentaly plotted a course that ran me aground and killed myself! lol . But great fun. Anyone know exactly how to edit .cfg files to add renown?

EDIT: N/M I figured it out

Chewsmokah, welcome aboard.

After you have read THE GWX manual, you may want to take a look at mu Kielman webbie. I am told it has helped a number of people.

Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII/data/menu/ ( or whatever you install directory is ) I deleted de_menu first, and had the same problem, then went back to the same directory and deleted the en_menu file as well, then it worked like charm

I hope it works out for you as it did me.
