Default Do Alberich or Tarnmatte have any effect in game?

Any ideas or proof? Any settings in the game that show what effect it has if any? Uboataces.com says there's no conclusive proof as to either's effectiveness, just claims. It got me to wondering whether it made any difference in game.

They have about as much effect as they did in RL.

IIRC, they decrease a chance of detection by 10%. It doesn't seam much, but every bit of help comes in handy late in the war.

I'm no expert on Alberich, but I imagine it would have been costly to apply, and U-Boats are big! I imagine it would cost more than paint or whatever.

However, saying that, most Tiger tanks were fitted out with Zimmerit so I could be wrong.

They found that, while the idea worked to some extent, the adhesive would fail and flaps of the rubber material would come loose and flap in the current while the boat was underway submerged. The resulting sound made the boat easier to detect by hydrophone, thus cancelling out any benefit of reduced sonar signature.

Hello Kaleun;
This documentation is the evidence the stealth mat was very good.
It was unfortunately very late and only 7 boats could so be equipped.

In the last minutes of part 5 they say 11 U-Boote have been equipped with Alberich and none of them has been sunk by ASDIC operations.

I've left a comment on the first video on behalf of us here who don't understand german (or not well enough) asking if there are any english subtitles available at all.

The german that I know is very basic, limited to the odd phrase and of course, swear words. I can guess a fair bit due to similarities to norwegian but i'm better with the written language than the spoken.

Zimmerit paste is much less costly than anechoic tiles and is being applied to a smaller vehicle under much easier conditions - one doesn't have to drydock a PzKpfw VI to apply Zimmerit, for example.
