Default Rush Limbaugh: Leader of the GOP?

You'd think so.

Republican congressman Phil Gingrey made statements to Politico yesterday telling Rush Limbaugh to "back off" after Limbaugh went on air and said he hoped that Barack Obama fails. It was an appropriate and well placed comment, as lots of Republicans were at that monet complimenting the President's efforts to meet them at the table on the stimulus bill.
Today, he got on Limbaugh's radio show and offered the following:

Quote:
Rush, thank you so much. I thank you for the opportunity, of course this is not exactly the way to I wanted to come on. ... Mainly, I want to express to you and all your listeners my very sincere regret for those comments I made yesterday to Politico. ... I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments. ... I regret those stupid comments.
Puke.

Pandering to Rush Limbaugh? Seriously? This is what it has come to? Now, I don't care if your a Dem or a Pub, caving on what are obviously your true feelings because you may have offended a radio host, especially one as vile as Limbaugh, is really a sad, pathetic thing.

I prefer the views of Democratic freshman congressman Alan Grayson who said:

Quote:
"Rush Limbaugh is a has-been hypocrite loser, who craves attention. His right-wing lunacy sounds like Mikhail Gorbachev, extolling the virtues of communism. Limbaugh actually was more lucid when he was a drug addict. If America ever did 1% of what he wanted us to do, then we'd all need pain killers."
I think that's an entirely more accurate assessment.

Whatever. I am not a big Rush fan, just don't like his style, but I don't want Obama's policies for the US. I think that was the same way Rush meant it as well, hoping the country will manage to survive with Obama but at the same time hoping his policies will fail.

I heard something about the democrats having some sort of anti-Rush web site or something. Seems like they are worried about talk radio. Unlike most of the liberal media it isn't as Obama-friendly. I know Queen Nancy wants to shut it down so there must be something that concerns them.

After the House passing the wasteful stim bill today it is easy to understand why they don't want anyone to question their actions.

Well your problem isn't "liberal anti-radio efforts" Its that conservative talk radio has been talken over by the nutjobs like Rush who's idiocy gathers ratings.

The center-rights who want to get on the air only get pathetic time slots.

Fair enough, but you completely miss the point....

Never heard Rush, I don't get the fascination with talk radio. Personally, I think Obama has more to worry about than what Rush Limbaugh (or anyone in the shock radio business) thinks. Like he reminded the Republicans lately "I won!".

Rush is a success - because the FREE MARKET has a demand for people like him. Like him or not - if he didn't have an audience - meaning people who either agree with him or at least like him and his views most of the time - he wouldn't be around.

The hate you see spewed at Rush is simply because the Democrats - being the "inclusive, understanding and accepting" people they are - cannot stand for anyone with different views than their own to have a voice. Its ok to have an opinion - as long as it agrees with theirs. Otherwise you should be shut up, shut off, shut down and probably gassed (as most true liberals abhor guns).

After all - if they weren't afraid of different ideas - what would it matter?

And yes - expect to see the "balanced viewpoint" legislation come up again soon to do exactly that - shut down the opposition.

If you're mean the Fairness Doctrine I don't think it has a chance of passing although there are those in the Democratic Party who strongly favor it. Their network a few years back, America on Air, or something like that (can't recall it at the moment) failed and they seem to want a free ride.

As I said, I just don't listen to Rush. Not the content as much as the way it is delivered. Other hosts are okay though.

Enigma, I am sorry I missed your point. I thought you meant with wanting Obama to fail it also meant wanting America to fail. Not the case with me and I am sure not the case with Rush. I watched an interview with him concerning this and it is what he explained as well.

I believe that the point was that a politician had exhibited a propensity for dual countenances:hmm:

The fairness doc was out of hand however, The airwaves need changing. Moderates are being flushed down the toilet compared to hard line wackballs who use the public airwaves to rille up the ranks ignorant. On BOTH sides.

The problem with that is who decides what is moderate or hard line left or right? That's a big issue as I'm sure some of the things you and I consider moderate will be considered skewed to one side or the other.

He is irrelevant. Obama made him relevant earlier this week. I do not listen to the guy myself, he is irritating.
