and the color on this is perfect ...is this a type XXI?..

I would hazard a cautious yes.
I believe there is a single XXI in Germany as a museum/tour piece, isn't there? What wouldn't I give to take a nose around in there.....

Yes, that is the Wilhelm Bauer in Bremerhaven. It is a museum today.
