I'm afraid it's too late now.

Here's what happened: I was surprised by a single aircraft and decided to withstand the initial attack, and dive later. Four bombs landed at my stern, killing the gunner. At first glance, the damage to the boat appeared minor and I dived, sending damage control crew to stop the floodings.

The flooding was heavier than I estimated, and the boat immediately started to sink fast, stern down. The needle was well beyond 260m when I regained control of the boat and started to raise. But it was too late. The hull colapsed.

The question is - would the flooding cause the boat to sink if I stayed on surface instead of diving (assuming no additional damage from the aircraft)?

What plane was it that sank you by the way?

I think it was Avro Anson, but I'm not sure as it all happened so fast. If that's the case, there were only two bombs, not four as I mentioned in previous post.

The deeper you are, the fastest flooding will occur due to the pressure. I think this is incorporated in the game.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate demise,if you use Venatore's crash dive mod you can set the depth as well,so you can even use it in shallower water,30,40,50m depth settings, much more handy and highly recommended

Thanks for your support.

Now I realized I made an error when I dived with flooding.
I tested this in a single mission, and even though my bow compartment was almost completely flooded, the boat stayed on surface. When I dived to periscope depth, the boat begun sinking like a rock.

I should have stayed on the surface until flood was under control, and then dive. Maybe this is common knowledge, but I wasn't aware of it.

I always crash dive when I spot/detect aircraft. Just remember that your U-boat is not a dedicated anti-aircraft vessel.

I crash dive also, but like I said, it took me by surprise. My inexperienced crew spoted it when it was very close...
