I agree with you Neal. Conan is one of my favorite movies of all time. I hate to see them screw it up. I hope they don't make it too politically correct. It is going to ruin the image if they try to please everyone.

When I asked Lerner who he was hoping to get to play Conan, he said, "To be honest, we're looking for a younger Arnold Schwarzenegger, someone we could sign to a three- or four-picture deal, because I see this as a real long-term franchise."
Thats going to be hard to replace Arnold, theres plenty of muscle bound actors out there but to find the right one to be Conan wont be easy. You got to have one with the right voice caue Arnold voice made Conan his muscles came second. Arnold was the perfect Conan. Good luck to them in finding a replacment.

Who would you pick to be Conan:hmm:

They could always have a young muscle bound guy doing the acting and have Arnold do the lines to be dubbed on later.

As I remember it Arnie hardly said 'owt. He just stared and the narrator told us what emotion Arnie was trying to convey...I found it highly effective.

Wreong quote. as I remember both movies, "I'll be back" is not from Conan, but Temrinator 1.

Boy - is that guy really that popular that I start arguing about his quotes?

Ha ha, yeah, I did that on purpose, since Arnie is mentioned as returning to the Conan franchise.

I liked Arnie as the mighty Cimmerian, with one noteable exception: when he fell down or was surprised, he bellowed that gay "Agghrruughh" that totally ripped up his manly image. The producers certainly should have overdubbed that with some baritone actor.

I just hope they stick a little closer to Robert E. Howard's work. I hated the movies; not because they were bad but because they had so little of the original books in them.

They did have the crucification scene on the Tree of Woe!

That was awesome, buzzards beware!

Don't get me wrong, I was raised on 80's cheese and I loved it, but the acting is so bad in these movies they might as well put tons of sex in it and call it a porno.

Acting? What acting? Arnold is a fitting type for a certain kind of roles. but he is no more an actor in the artistic meaning of the word than is a trunk of wood acting in the role of a telephone pole. Most so-called stars and actors are no real good actors, they just found they match a certain stereotype that is wanted for a given kind of role.

I read most if not all of the Conan books long ago. I enjoyed the movie. For this one to be good, they need to pick a good lead character. I guess they will start looking at the WWF wrestlers again

[totally joking]

Yeah, Hulk Hogan would be perfect:rotfl: or maybe Stardust (Dusty Rhode's kid)

[/totally joking]
