Perhaps we should just have a duel to settle the election.:rotfl:

It wouldn't cost much (actually, money could probably be made by charging admission and viewing privileges) and it would be quick. As an extra benefit, the loser wouldn't be able to complain about not getting a fair shot.

Not quite right.... more like "Here goes CNN again"

Dont include me in the 'we' please. I view CNN as nothing more than an Obama campaign engine.

Same old same old. I agree about CNN, SteamWake, but the same is true of most other outlets, and on both sides. McCain was throwing mud almost before the campaign even started, and after announcing that he would run a 'clean campaign', Obama was quick to follow.

The influence this has on voters is questionable. Some will believe the hype of one side or the other, some will believe neither and condemn both for all the crap, some will believe both and say "Yeah! They're both despicable!", and some, like me, will do all of the above.

But most, like a lot of people here, have already made up their minds to hate one or the other, and will be part of the mud-wrestling.

Me, I both deplore and enjoy it at the same time. It drives me crazy that there is no honest debate, but at least it makes a good spectator sport.

Frankly, it doesn't matter if it's CNN, ABC, the BBC, or whatever IMO... (I don't like FOX for the same reasons you don't care for CNN I imagine).

The point being is it's typical of American politics to "start the mud slinging in earnest" as the campaigns draw nigh to Election Day... And, as it seems to me, there is seldom (if ever) a candidate who is so personally or politically squeaky clean, that they can prevail against the mud, it's going to be yet another "mud bogging" election.

Besides, I couldn't very well post the topic as "Here I go again" could I?

It's like reading the "National Enquirer"... you know it's all horse crap, but fun to "roll ones eyes" and shake the head with the incredulity of it all...

It should be pointed out that the Repubs are not saying anything the Dems haven't already brought up themselves...

It should also be pointed out that that's always the case with both sides.

If I'm not mistaken, in the political vernacular the words honest and debate are mutually exclusive. In fact, I'm not sure the word honest is in the political dictionary

To parody George Carlin's (God Rest Him) "Seven Dirty Words" here's my spin on "Seven Words Politicians Should Never Say in Public":

1. Honesty
2. Integrity
3. Security
4. Trustworthy
5. Truthful
6. Loyal
7. "I promise" (Ok, the last is a phrase...)

For fear of not being elected because of them.

Nah, the chickens**ts in DC outlawed dueling back in the 1840s or 1850s.

But that's one thing that should be brought back. If you really want something bad enough, how far are you willing to take it to get it through.

The next national debate is coming up in Nashville. It will interesting to see if either of these guys can show some restraint... And actually focus on issues that matter to the voters... not crap that's 20 yrs old and history...

The NRA might go for that.

CNN used to be the Clinton New Network. ABC, NBC, MSNBC and CNN are very definitaly Obama supporters and they do not hide it at all. The only news entity that counters these media groups is FOX. Specifically Bill O'Reilly. It is unfortunate these media giants feed the viewers what the media wants them to hear. It is up to the average person to sort out reality as opposed to fiction. Personally, ABC makes me want to puke they are that bad with left wing reporting. As of late, I spend more time watching FOX. I loved watching Barney Frank squirming on National TV as Bill O'Reilly got unhinged because Frank would not own up to being part of the bank failures. As O'Reilly digs deeper, we find Barney Frank was in a relationship with a man on the board at Fanny Mae in the 90's.
