Ok, September 15th 1940 im in a IXB 9000 m behind a enemy convoy with 4 dd's surrounding it. I hit it the night before and sank 6 ships, i have now reloaded my external torps and chased it again until now. Time is 20.00hrs and it pretty dark.
How am i going to do this? im behind the convoy, a DD is zig zaging 3000m behind the convoy as well, and im on the surface! The convoy is doing 6kts and if i submerge i wont be able to catch up, if i stay on the surface much longer ill be spotted, and if i get in a firefight with him it will bring the other DD's. Got any Ideas ?? :hmm: Cheers Downunder |

pull out - go to the flanks of the convoy and shadow them from abeam through the night at high speed to get ahead of them.
strike at dawn.

Hi Downunder,
This is what I normally do, you should by now know the speed and course of the convoy, using the ruler tool draw a line through the centre of the convoy plotting it's estimated course for the next 100 kms or so, then plot a parallel course about 15 kms from the convoy's course, this will now be your course. Turn 90 degrees to get onto your course and race ahead until you are in front of the convoy again and have time to move into an ambush position. Use the speed and distance charts at the top left of your chart table to mark estimated times on the convoy's course, you should be able to make a fairly accurate calculation for a good intercept point. Also every so often, submerge and do a hydrophone sweep to check it's still on course. The convoy will still be in hydro range though out of visual range. Hope this helps, good hunting and " sink them all ! " subvers4 |

Yup! The trick is get ahead of the convoy. Dive every once in a while to check on the convoy's position.
