This is wowwowwow blog and is authored by everyone's favorite pundit Whoopi Goldberg, I should not cast stones according to SS, since I do not know the proper way to use then or than , but at least I picked up on this:

I also thought that this idea of America first coming from her was kind of strange because she was one of the people who wanted to succeed from the United States. She was part of a campaign to succeed Alaska from the United States of America. So I’m glad she’s back, putting America first.

FYI - the only difference between then and than is then references a point in time, before, after. If it is not time that you are referencing, 'then' you use 'than'. I particularly made that sentence up like that, rather than show you an easy one!

And yes, I hated college English.

You got it wrong. You are talking about time there. You are doing something 'after' you are doing something else.
