You Know-I Never Got One Of These Before

:hmm: ...a message telling me to RTB... ....Could be because I have always been way too wary of reporting in...afraid I'll get sent to take recon photos of carriers in some dragon's den...

...but I'm thinking this is something new that came along with version 1.5..right?....'cause this is the first time I've ever received such a signal from ComSubPac...ever...

I was suspecting they weren't an everyday occurance.

Though I am hoping to get another soon as I am wrapping up this current patrol.

I don't know if it has any connection, but I'm wondering if it may have something to do with distance. I had completed the assigned mission, left the area to refit, then ran into a convoy, so I didn't return to the original area. I refit a second time and made a report. Just wondering if the fact that I was quite a distance from my assigned area, maybe the game takes that into account and doesn't assign another mission due to fuel considerations. Usually the new assignments (at least in my case) have been fairly close to the original assignment.
I don't know if any of that would apply in your case. ?

I know the message well because i am using the TMO Mod and start my new careers always with the Narwhal Boat. This Sub has fuel for round about 32.000 mls@8 knts.

So i do several missions each patrol and the last assignment is always this one. Sometimes i get 5 missions, sometimes more. My "High-Score" for one Patrol is 9 assigned Missions. The 10th was the "Good Work....".

I think the AI is overstrained with too busy captains.:rotfl:

When you radio in, if you have less than X number of torpedoes remaining or Y percentage fuel remaining, you don't get a new assignment. At least using TMO + RSRDC, that's the message I get in that situation. The limit seems to be about 7 or fewer fish, and below 50% fuel.

Ok finally some "meat"on the subject.

You need to be low on fuel and or torps plus complete a certain number of missions in order to get a RTB....got it.

The reason I never got one before 1.5 gold Edition was due to lusy manual targeting in those versions. I ran out of torpedoes loooong before fuel ever became a problem. With 1.5 and 100% manual targeting success I have the confidence now to use only 1 or two fiash per kill and so request more missions per patrol...thus the "message." Now it is clear.

..btw..not at all mod related..these messages...
